Top Video Game Reveals & World Premiers from the 2026 Summer Game Fest Showcase
Crammed with world premiers and news on highly-anticipated releases, this year’s Summer Game Fest Showcase was so unmissable that I am writing this physically and mentally exhausted from the excitement. For one, narrowing down the long list of sensational big studio and indie titles to fit in a highlights list was hard work, and on the indie side of things especially, I’ll be including a selection of cheeky honourable mentions because I just don’t feel right leaving them unmentioned. Keep reading as I jump into a quick rundown of my most anticipated games from Summer Game Fest 2026, and sound off in the comments with the titles you can’t wait to play!

The Foxfire’s Top 6 Big Announcements at Summer Game Fest
This year’s Summer Game Fest was an RPG-lover’s dream, with story-rich games of all genres showing up across various presentations this week. Three of my most anticipated games turned up over the course of this summer’s showcase, alongside multiple titles I didn’t even know I’d wanted until I saw them:
1. Final Fantasy VII: Revelation
Part 3 of the Final Fantasy VII: Remake trilogy was a show-stealing announcement in 3 parts, unveiling the name of the game as ‘Revelation’ and some key features like open world exploration in the Highwind, the ability to return to previous locations from the trilogy, a job system, sneak peeks at Cid & Vincent’s fighting styles, and more. I don’t know about you, but I’ve seen everything I need to know this is going to be a hell of a finale.

2. Persona 4: Revival
Coming February 18, 2027, Persona 4: Revival is the highly-anticipated remake of Atlus’s PS2 masterpiece. After a brief reveal in June 2025 (has it really been a year already?), Persona 4: Revival was back in force this year with a full trailer showcasing battle mechanics (adding baton passes and flashy finishers like we saw in Persona 5, Persona 5 Royal, and Persona 3: Reload), revamped menus, new voice actors, a new theme, and story additions from Persona 4: Golden.

3. Persona 6
The Persona 6 announcement at Summer Game Fest was wholly unexpected after Persona 4: Revival was part of the same show, and while not much is known about the game at this point, Atlus gave us enough to whet the appetite. According to the game product page, Persona 6 will let players “Navigate the rhythms of everyday school life and build friendships, pursue romance, and cultivate memories that matter. But beneath the surface of familiar streets and quiet neighborhoods lies something darker: strange rumors, unsettling urban legends, and occult incidents that only you and your closest allies can face.”

4. God of War: Laufey
I don’t know if anyone had ‘game following Kratos’s dead wife’ on their 2026 Summer Game Fest (or ever) bingo card, but sign me up. God of War: Laufey grabbed me immediately with its immersively gorgeous art style, fast paced and dynamic battle mechanics, and typically mythic setting. Laufey is a character with rich narrative potential, and with the afterlife of the gods as her story’s setting, I’ve got no doubt that God of War: Laufey will be one to remember.

5. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis
I’ve talked about what the classic Tomb Raider means to me before by the Foxfire, and I’ve been cautiously optimistic about Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis since it was first announced at the 2025 Game Awards. At a glance, I’m excited to recognise locations like the Caves and Lost Valley, and to see the return of satisfying traversal mechanics from Tomb Raider’s PS2 Legend & Anniversary era. I’m still nervous about the changes I’ve already seen between Legacy of Atlantis and the classic game (Lara falling off the bridge in the opening of Legacy of Atlantis compared to her capability and control over the situation in the classic game), but that’s likely just my overattachment to the original script. The fact that Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis has stayed true to the original story to the point that scenes and locations are instantly recognisable is very encouraging, and I’m eager to see a refreshed version of Lara’s iconic adventure when it drops on February 12, 2027.

6. 1666 Amsterdam
1666 Amsterdam is the result of Patrice Désilets’ many years of perseverance and passion for history & mysticism, with development interrupted by multiple layoffs before its eventual showing at this year’s Summer Game Fest. The story of 1666 Amsterdam follows two women–Noa and Clio–across separate time periods, and immerses us in a tale of ritual magic and family mystery that I can’t wait to learn more about and experience when Early Access drops in late 2026.

The Foxfire’s Top 6 Most Anticipated Indie Video Games at Summer Game Fest
Indie fans were spoiled for choice at Summer Game Fest’s various showcases, and if you’re anything like me, your wishlist is officially full to bursting with upcoming titles and updates from cozy farming sims to fantasy epics.
1. There Are No Ghosts at the Grand
I played the demo of Friday Sundae’s There Are No Ghosts at the Grand for my Halloween 2025 blog (4 Spooky Demos for People Who Don’t Play Horror Games) and loved every minute of it, from the British wit that felt so much like home, to the charming setting and fun House Flipper-meets-Powerwash Simulator playstyle. The game follows Chris David, who inherits a run-down old hotel and while renovating, comes across vengeful spirits… and a talking cat. What could go wrong? There Are No Ghosts at the Grand is slated for a Q4 2026 release (though the demo is available now), and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

2. Threads of Time
If you’ve been wanting a love letter to Chrono Trigger that’s similarly ambitious and rendered in a gorgeous 2D art style, then Threads of Time belongs on your wishlist! Developed by Canadian indie studio Riyo Games, Threads of Time is an epic RPG adventure that spans past, present, and future, and features a turn-based combat system that will let you ‘bend time to your will’ and unleash team combos on your foes! At the time of writing, Threads of Time is still listed as ‘to be announced’, but I’ll be keeping a keen eye out for the moment a release date drops!

3. Grave Seasons
Developed by Perfect Garbage, Grave Seasons scratches the itches of both wolves inside me: the gothy side who’s morbidly fascinated by supernatural horror stories, and the cozy girly who loves a farming sim. In Grave Seasons, you play as an ex-con who escapes from jail to start a farm in the town of Ashenridge. During your stay, people start turning up dead, and it’s up to you to unravel the mystery and use the clues you find to protect the next potential victim. Though no firm release date has been announced, Grave Seasons is slated to release sometime in 2026!

4. Dungeon Hotpot
Dungeon Hotpot by Renala Games is the food-motivated answer to Coffee Talk or Tavern Talk, and I love to see it. The premise is simple, yet compelling: listen to the adventurers who visit the dungeon, and prepare comforting, beautifully-illustrated meals to help them brave their next adventure using fantastical ingredients! Dungeon Hotpot is still listed as ‘to be announced’, but I’m hoping we’ll hear more about its release soon! For the time being, a free demo is available on the Steam page for those keen to get started in the kitchen.

5. Wicked Delights
Wicked Delights by Hiding Spot feels almost too ambitious to be true: it’s a rhythm game, it’s a visual novel, it’s sci-fi, it’s a horror game, it’s got 5 distinct art styles, full songs, and it’s gorgeous. After reading the premise, it also reminds me of a Bill & Ted movie in the very best way: the story starts in a dying VHS rental shop, where a mysterious VHS tape starts ejecting characters from across movie genres into the real world, “but some things are best loved through the warm glow of a screen.” Sign me UP, already! Wicked Delights is still listed as ‘to be announced’, but with all that going on in the story, visuals, and soundtrack, I’m content to wait as long as it takes!

6. The Hearth & Harbour
The Hearth & Harbour by Saltstone Studios puts us in charge of a run-down restaurant (which, between Taste of the Wind and Hungry Hearts is among my favourite management/simulator genres!), but that’s not all: you’re making a new start in town in the shadow of an impending war, and you’ve got loans to repay. While you revive and run the Silver Spoon diner, the choices you make will matter and influence the kind of business you build. Beyond the diner’s doors, you’ll also be treated to turn-based tactical RPG gameplay, taking the Hearth & Harbour one step further than management games tend to tread. The Hearth & Harbour is slated to arrive sometime in 2026, and I have no doubt it’ll be a firm favourite of mine.
