**Tails by the Foxfire’s Indie Spotlight Review of Case Solved: The London Files by Minimol Games & SpecNext Ltd.**

Case Solved: The London Files brings players to a cosy yet noir London to solve 3 cases during its main campaign, with plenty of secret cases available to unlock and play by finding codes hidden throughout the levels and in the real world. The secret cases makes up for a relatively short and sweet main story, which can be completed in about 2 hours of play (and includes cats hidden throughout its levels for hints if you find them all, by the way!). However, characters are enjoyable, writing is witty, the art feels cosy and immersive, and gameplay feels satisfyingly challenging with its blend of hidden object and logic puzzles helping you solve each episodic case.

**What is Case Solved: The London Files?**

Case Solved: The London Files is a cosy point-and-click detective game broken up into 3 main cases with multiple bite-size parts. Despite dealing with murders, Case Solved: The London Files trends closer to a mystery puzzle & object finding game that’s just perfect for an after work wind-down or chilling out on a rainy night. It’s got the tongue-in-cheek humour of classic detective fiction without the hardboiled side of the genre, and an art style that feels like cardboard cutouts in a really soft and charming way that lacks the grit of your usual police procedural.

**Is Case Solved: The London Files Hard? What’s the Gameplay Loop Like?**

Case Solved: The London Files provides a fair challenge that stimulates your brain without feeling unfair. Talk to suspects, find hidden objects around each crime scene, and arrange clues based on what you hear throughout the story to crack the case using a multiple-choice grid. The story of each scene is framed with vibrant comic panels/visual novel sections that introduce the case, the main suspect, and put you right into a fun detective graphic novel as the detective confers with his constable and/or accompanying officer, and character dialogue is accompanied by distinctly voiced grunts and babbling that give a feel for each character’s personality without huge info-dumping. Story sections are brisk as well, getting you right back into the action with narrative and dialogue that don’t drag their feet.

My only complaints with Case Solved: The London Files are relatively minor ones that I don’t feel detract from its overall value:

Firstly, the comic panel & babbling format falls apart in places during Case 3, where there are some technical glitches with the wrong character voice/art being attributed to a line.
Secondly, I feel the main story campaign is much too short, as I was able to complete all 3 cases within around 2 hours. I don’t consider myself some kind of genius, so I’m a little concerned some players may find the quantity of story unsatisfying, as it doesn’t give you very much time with the world or characters. However, gameplay is available in spades with plenty of side cases to unlock via secret codes found during cases and in the real world, so be sure to hunt those down and make the most of the many secret cases available for play!
